This morning felt a bit like a Fall day to me… bright and clean, very clear. It’s so beautiful.

Lector, Si Monumentum Requiris Circumspice

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

The last line of the epitaph of English architect, Christopher Wren (which was written by his eldest son) reads, “Lector, Si Monumentum Requiris Circumspice.” The translation from Latin- “Reader, if you seek his monument, look around you.” Wren was the architect of St. Paul’s Cathedral and is buried there. The splendor of his creation serves as a monument to his life – nothing more is needed nor could be more magnificent.

I’ve often wondered, “what kind of ‘monumnets’ am I creating.” I’d love for the work I do in my life to be all the monument that I need.
