Packing Jewelery

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

I found that a little coin purse works well for packing small jewelry for travel.

Fireflys, Warm Nights, & Ice Cream

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

I’m daydreaming about some romantic mixture of delights I’ve really experienced and those I’ve seen in the movies- the ones that take place in some other part of the country.

Regardless of where the appealing images are coming from, I’m intoxicated by the thought of enchanting summer moments – of watching fireflies in the warm night air, American flags hanging outside of summer cabins, fireworks, family outings to the local ice cream stand, beach days, BBQ’s, lake sports, evening porch-sitting, night swimming (floating on our backs in luked water and staring at stars that punctuate a jet-black sky), kids screaming “Marco!” “Polo!” at the club pool, dusk light that lingers long into the evening, bright clothing, convertible driving, Reggae music, boys with rolled pants carrying homemade fishing poles to the creek, no school, bike rides to friend’s houses, and countless other wonderful things.

Business Ethics & Brideless Weddings

Monday, June 15th, 2009

The dean of a prominent business school said in an interview that he believes business people should take a vow similar that which a doctor or attorney takes as they graduate and go into professional practice. He was saying business should be a profession with a clear mandate for ethical practices which make the world a better place and there should be a code of conduct just like there is one that guides doctors.

On an unrelated program, a man was sharing the story of calling of his wedding (he and his fiance had realized it wasn’t right). He could not get a refund for the money he’d spent for the reception. So he had a “brideless wedding”… a big party with all of his friends. Then he and his brother went on what would have been his honeymoon vacation and decided to keep traveling (for a year). They wrote a memoir about it.

Sunny Afternoon in La Jolla

Sunday, June 7th, 2009

I cannot believe how time speeds by. It’s again Adam, Arlene & David’s birthdays. To celebrate we met for lunch at the Burger Lounge in La Jolla (fun place), strolled the streets, checked out art galleries, and caught up. It was a lovely afternoon.
